1. Social Function & Definition

A Descriptive Text is a genre of writing designed to describe a particular person, place, landmark, historical building, device, or object in vivid detail so that readers can visualize, understand, and feel its characteristics.

3. Language Features

  • Specific Participant: Describes a unique subject (e.g. The National Monument, My Laptop).
  • Simple Present Tense: Stating facts and ongoing conditions.
  • Adjectives & Noun Phrases: state-of-the-art, spacious, high-speed, crystal-clear.

[Identification]: "SMK Negeri 1 boasts a state-of-the-art Computer and Network Engineering laboratory located on the second floor of the technology building."
[Description]: "The laboratory is spacious and equipped with thirty high-performance workstation computers arranged in four neat rows. At the front stands a full-height 42U server rack enclosing enterprise Cisco switches."
